A few photos from yesterday's walk in Henteleff Pa A few photos from yesterday's walk in Henteleff Park in south Winnipeg, Manitoba. The 30-acre park runs alongside the Red River and has the remnants of shelter planting from when it was the city's tree nursery as well as a natural riparian forest. Normand Creek runs through the park providing a spawning area and backwater for fish species.

.

Métis families settled here shortly after the Selkirk Settlers arrived in 1812 and formed a market garden community. In 1924, the Henteleff family bought 40 acres of riverfront land and launched a market garden operation. Their family were one of the first Jewish market gardeners in western Canada. Nathan and Rose Henteleff retired in 1967, when the land was expropriated by the city. In 2002, the land was designated as a public park.

Picture from the Aladdin pantomime we saw in Engla Picture from the Aladdin pantomime we saw in England in 2017. The pantomime is an English Christmas season tradition. It is fun and silly family entertainment with audience participation. When you get into January and February, amateur community groups stage their own pantomimes. I suspect few of these will happen this 2021 - but there are a few professional pantomimes available virtually this Christmas season.
