My latest blog post is about the Manitoba Children's Museum in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Many years ago I used to take my daughter and step-daughters here. Now I've been with my grandchildren. The train in the centre remains a highlight, which seems appropriate given that the museum is housed in the oldest surviving train repair facility in Manitoba. On International Women's Day, I'm sharing the phot

On International Women's Day, I'm sharing the photo of the Famous 5 Monument on the grounds of the Manitoba Legislative Building in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The Famous 5 were a group of 5 women (Nellie McClung, Louise McKinney, Irene Parlby, Emily Murphy, Henrietta Muir Edwards) who took a case to the Privy Council of Great Britain (in those days Canada's highest court) that resulted in a 1929 decision legally recognizing women as "persons" who could be appointed as judges and senators. Nellie McClung, the suffragist who played a key role in Manitoba women getting the vote, is show seated at the right putting her name on the petition.

Mr. Bean's car was a family favourite when we visited the Beaulieu Motor Museum in England's New Forest region. In addition to the motor museum, the Beaulieu attraction includes abbey ruins, gardens, a Victorian palace house, and a display about training World War II special agents at the estate.
