I took this photo of the Queen Victoria statue at the Manitoba Legislative Building Grounds in Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada a couple of days before it was toppled and decapitated in anger over discoveries of unmarked graves on residential school sites. When I toured the statues I was struck by the one-sided settler view of history they depicted. That prompted my latest blog post about the statues and Canadian colonialism. ⁠
