The New Forest National Park covers much of the picturesque district known for its ancient woodlands, quaint traditional towns, and free roaming New Forest ponies. We stayed in a fabulous apartment in the elegant country house hotel Rhinefield House.

Today is United Nations World Oceans Day. Restore Coral is an organization working for the restoration of reef systems in Mexico. Their Restore Coral Mural Project uses urban art to raise awareness. Here are some of Restore Coral Murals I came across on a visit to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. In recent decades, the Mesoamerican Reef System (also known as the Great Mayan Reef) which stretches over 1,000 kilometres starting at the tip of Yucatán Peninsula, has experienced a density loss of 75% endangering hundreds of marine species.

My culinary lavender from Pelindaba Lavender Farm

My culinary lavender from Pelindaba Lavender Farm on San Juan Islands arrived in the mail this morning. I opened the envelop to a lovely delicate scent. It arrived just in time for my virtual San Juan Islands Culinary Magic Tour and Cook-Along. Chef Tim Payne of Coho Restaurant demonstrated several recipes (laventini cocktail, stuffed baby mushrooms with lavender and chevre, lavender chantilly cream). Today I just watched - I will try the recipes later on my own. Thanks @cohorestaurant @pelindabalavender @visitsanjuans for a delightful hour. San Juan Islands has been on my list of places to visit for a while (I've not made it there yet). More interested than ever now.

Part of the kitchen in the Jane Austen House Museum in Chawton, Hampshire, England. The museum reopened to the public today. The house is where Jan Austen lived the last 8 years of her life and where she wrote most of her books. I visited a few years ago and can understand why she thrived here. ⁠

Cowichan Bay is North America's first Cittaslow designated community, a cultural trend known as the slow movement. It is one of only four such designated communities in Canada and two in the United States.
