Felt top hats fueled the North American fur trade

Felt top hats fueled the North American fur trade (beaver felt was highly prized) and led to European settlement of western Canada. Just one of the bits of history covered in Parks Canada history tour at The Forks: 6,000 years in 60 minutes. The tour is one of the events featured in this weekend's Doors Open Winnipeg. I already knew much of the history covered in our walk, but it was good to be reminded of it and The Forks was a lovely place to be this afternoon.
