Dining And Shopping At Lady Of The Lake

Lady of the Lake in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada: shop, café, pub
Lady of the Lake in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada is a shop, café, and pub. The welcoming restaurant space features high ceilings with chandeliers and large windows. Artfully arranged displays in the 7,000 square foot shop invite one in.
Lady of the Lake describes its menu as “gourmet comfort food.” Food, including the varied dessert selection, is prepared from scratch using local, organic, real ingredients. Items include all-day breakfast, soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, bowls, and flatbread pizza.

It may be hard to choose what to order from the large selection of appealing items on the menu. I opted for the sandwich combo that came with soup and salad. That choice allowed me to get three of the items that had caught my eye. All were delicious.

The restaurant is popular and can be very busy. It was full when we arrived for a late lunch. We waited in line for about fifteen minutes before being seated. The photo taken above with the many empty seats was taken at the end of our lunch.
Note that high tea is available in the afternoons by reservation. A back patio is open during the summer months.

The shop contains home décor items, personal accessories, kitchenware, toys, clothing, gourmet food items, and more. Vintage furniture is a specialty. The products are grouped into attractive displays that form a series of little vignettes and shopping nooks throughout the store.
The pretty displays make you want to linger and browse. There is a lot to take in. You may feel the need to go through the displays more than once to make sure you haven’t missed finding some “treasure.”

You may be wondering about the decorated truck parked in front of the store in the picture at the top of this post. Talia is a non-operational truck from about the late 1940s decorated with a mosaic of china—lots of teacups and teapots. Talia the Teacup Truck was created in collaboration with artist Sharon Loeppky in the summer of 2016 with the help of donated pieces of china. Talia gets cleaned and fixed up every year. New pieces are added continuously. The truck sits outside all year round. For more information, read this CTV News article from July 2024.

The restaurant at Lady of the Lake is open daily for breakfast and lunch. It is also open Friday evenings for dinner with live music. The shop is open daily from 10am to 6pm weekdays, 5pm on Fridays, and 4pm on Sundays. Lunch and a browse through the shop is a popular outing for groups of friends.
Lady of the Lake was the first place several people suggested to a friend and I when we said we would be spending a couple of nights in Brando. After visiting, I can see why. It will be a top recommendation I will make as well.
