Fleurs De Villes ARTISTE At The Leaf in Winnipeg

World-renowned floral exhibition at The Leaf in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada celebrates Manitoba’s vibrant arts scene
Fleurs de Villes is a world-renowned floral experience behind exhibitions across Canada, the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Its name translates to flowers of the cities. In cities where exhibitions are staged, they work with top local florists, designers, growers, and nurseries to showcase artful flower displays. Each show is unique and may be centered around a particular theme.
Fleurs de Villes ARTISTE at The Leaf in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, which ran from January 16, 2025 to January 26, 2025, was based on the ARTISTE theme, in which floral displays are inspired by remarkable artists across various disciplines. It featured fresh floral mannequins designed by local florists in collaboration with Manitoba arts and cultural organizations. It was a floral celebration of Manitoba’s vibrant arts scene.
Although the 2025 show at The Leaf is now over, there is a likelihood this may become an annual event at The Leaf. Other Fleurs de Villes shows can be found in other cities (see the Fleurs de Villes website). The displays highlighted in this post will give you a sense of a Fleurs de Villes show and perhaps whet your interest to seek out one of their shows.
Located in Assiniboine Park in a stunning building with a translucent, curving roof, The Leaf is an indoor horticultural attraction featuring tropical and Mediterranean biomes and a butterfly garden. You can read more about it in my post The Leaf Tropical Gardens in Winnipeg. It is a perfect setting for the exhibition.
Fleurs de Villes ARTISTE at The Leaf featured 15 mannequins at the centre of elaborate floral displays. The costumes worn by the mannequins were all created from flowers or leaves. Designs made from other blossoms surrounded them.

Signage beside each display recognized the artist and provided information about the flowers used and what the display represents. In the case of the Manitoba Museum display, the mushrooms on the platform represented the dome shape of the planetarium, the polar bear paid homage to the diorama in the Arctic and Subarctic Gallery, and the mannequin’s cloak featured patterns drawn from the Nonsuch Gallery.

All the flowers, including many roses, created sweet scents as I walked by. This was most noticeable at the Manitoba Opera mannequin with its numerous red roses.

The next few photos feature close-ups of parts of some of the displays.

Fleurs de Villes has a tagline Flowers Make Us Happy. The display certainly brought smiles to me and other people I saw at the exhibition. It was particularly special to see this bright display in the middle of winter.

This is really lovely (especially for someone sitting in the house after a large snowstorm last night). Your post brings a bit of warmth to a very cold day.
Ken, It brought a lot of warmth for me too when I visited on a brutally cold day.
